Kaweesi, who has also been the Police Spokesperson, was shot dead by unknown assailants travelling on two motorcycles about 100 metres from his home in Kulambiro, Nakawa Division in Kampala.

He was travelling in his car with two other police officers, who were also killed in the attack. The two police officers killed with Kaweesi have been identified as Corporal Kenneth Erau and AIGP’s bodyguard cum driver Constable Geoffrey Mambewa.

Eyewitnesses claim to have seen four gunmen with four guns traveling on two motorcycles – two on each.

Detectives have sealed off the scene of crime and several top police officers have arrived to the scene to ascertain what could have transpired.

There is a sea of people at the crime scene, our reporter Phillip Aguta reports.
