Gov’t, Media Should Work Together for a Better Uganda – PM Rugunda
The Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has said that confrontation between government and the media is unnecessary.
While speaking at the closure of a conference on “media coverage and security in Uganda” organized by Security Minister Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde this afternoon, Dr Rugunda said there is need for both government and the media to cultivate a cordial relationship.
He called for more dialogue between the two institutions to resolve their misunderstandings.
The Prime Minister urged government and the media to fight for a better, secure and prosperous Uganda.
He also said that he, however, understands the importance of divergent healthy opinions between the two institutions.
Rugunda added that there is a lot of information meant for public consumption that is being kept under the rug because some government officials claim that they are not authorized to speak; a claim he dismissed.
